Obstacles exist. What are we doing about them?
Obstacles to broaden horizons exist. The Japanese society needs to offer better career paths for these promising students. Parents and teachers need to learn the value of a US liberal arts edudcation. And of course, cost is a big obstacle.
Grew Bancroft Foundation is
- Raising public awareness and interest in liberal arts education and our program through Japanese high school teacher trips to the U.S., seminars, media campaign, etc.
- Offering scholarships to more students
- Developing relationships with schools for additional financial aids
- Increasing the amount of job/career planningn support to student
While we are closely working with the Fulbright Commission, America-Japan Society, US Embassy and are financially supported by geneorous donations from the Tokyo Club, Takayama Foundation, and many individuals, our resources are very limited.
